Flinders Ranges, Dalhousie Springs & Coober Pedy

9 Days/8 Nights

Day 1:
  • Depart Adelaide approx. 8am.Travel through the northern suburbs, and the Adelaide plains to the Clare Valley.Visit Sevenhill Cellars ( winery and Monastery).Travel through vast open plains to the lower Flinders Ranges via numerous country towns.Arrive Rawnsley Park mid afternoon. This is your overnight camp spot.Self guided walks at southern end of Wilpena Pound.
  • Bush camping with campfire meal.

Day 2:

  • Scenic Flight over Wilpena Pound.Travel through central Flinders Ranges.View Australian Wildlife at peace with nature.View Pioneering Heritage of the area.Arrive Gammon Ranges late afternoon
  • Bush camping overnight.

Day 3:

  • Travel to Arkaroola, Australia's largest private conservation park.Take the Ridge Top Tour and experience the most rugged part of the Flinders Ranges.Visit aboriginal cave paintings and experience some local aboriginal culture.
  • Camping overnight with an Aboriginal theme.

Day 4:

  • Travel through to the western edge of the Flinders Ranges onto the Oodnadatta Track.Visit Quandong Cafe, Leigh Creek Coalfields, Talc Alf, The Ochre Pits, Farina, Marree, Lake Eyre South, The Mound Springs and The William Creek Pub.
  • Camp overnight William Creek and have a cold beer with the locals.

Day 5:

  • Scenic Flight over Australia's largest cattle station, Anna Creek and views of Lake Eyre.Continue along Oodnadatta track.Visit Algebuckina Bridge, Algebuckina Water Hole. Oodnadatta and Dalhousie Springs.
  • Camping at Dalhousie Springs and relax with a swim in the thermal pools

    Adelaide - Rawnsley Park via the Clare Valley and Hawker.
    Visit the Sevenhill Cellars and Church, Yourumbulla Cave (aboriginal painting site) and an outback art gallery.
  • Overnight Rawnsley Park

Day 2:

  • Visit Arkaroo Rock (Aboriginal art site) Wilpena Pound and take a walk into Hills Homestead or around the old Wiplena Homestead.
  • Travel through the picturesque Bunyeroo, Brachina and Parachilna Gorges, visit the mining heritage of Blinman, see wildlife at peace with nature, view the Great Wall of China and magnificent 360 degree panoramas from Stokes Hill lookout.

Day 3:

  • Return Adelaide via Hawker, Quorn Port Augusta and the coast road.
    Visit Kayaka Ruins and Wadlata Outback centre to travel through the tunnel of time before heading south to Adelaide along Highway 1.

Day 1

  • Depart Adelaide approx 0800hrs.Travel north along Highway 1 to Port Augusta.View the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere at Port Germein.Follow the coastline of St Vincent and Spencer Gulf's.View the magnificent Flinders Ranges.From Port Augusta we travel south along Highway1 to Cowell.Visit Whyalla a city developed to produce steel products from iron ore mined in the nearby Middleback Ranges. Arrive Cowell 1500hrs for tour of local oyster farm.

Day 2

  • Depart Cowell, travel to Arno Bay to visit yellowtail kingfish and mulloway hatchery.Continue south along Highway 1 to Port Lincoln situated on picturesque Boston Bay, one of the worlds largest natural harbours.Tour Whalers Way viewing magnificent rugged coastline, sea stacks, secluded beaches of pristine white sand, crevasses and the wild seas of the Southern Ocean.

Day 3

  • Tour the Lincoln National Park or take a cruise on Boston Bay to visit tuna farms.View Port Lincoln and Boston Bay from numerous vantage points.Stroll amongst one of Australia's largest fishing fleets at Lincoln Cove Marina.Visit a sea horse farm.

Day 4

  • Depart Port Lincoln and continue along Highway 1 to Elliston.Along the way we visit Coffin Bay located on the shores of one of the most beautiful estuaries in Australia.View more rugged coastal scenery and unspoilt beaches.

  • Continue along Highway 1 to Streaky Bay.We will visit Talia Caves, Murphy's Haystacks and Point Labatt seal colony.
  • Swim with the seals at Baird Bay.

  • Travel through the gently rolling and peaceful hills of the Gawler Ranges.Observe ancient domes of volcanic rock displaying fascinating geological formations and a vivid array of colours.View shimmering salt lakes and densely vegetated sand hills that bloom with wildflowers after rain.You will see some of the 140 species of birds recorded in the Ranges as well as numerous other native animals.

  • Return to AdelaideVisit Wadlata Outback Centre, and travel the tunnel of time of the Flinders Ranges and Outback South Australia.Travel via the central Flinders Ranges and the Clare Valley one of Australia's premium wine growing regions.

Day 1

Travel to Burra, once Australia's largest inland town and home of Australia's largest metal mine during the mid 1800's, the famed Monster Mine. Day 1 - Adelaide - Woomera
